How to Play Casino Keno

The game of keno is probably one of the simplest games one can play in a casino. Whether you are a casino newbie or a seasoned gambling veteran, playing casino keno for the first time is as easy as 1-2-3. Sit back, relax, grab a drink and let us guide you through casino keno. Ready?

First off, look for the area in the casino where they are playing keno. Just go in the general direction of where the lounge lizards are, happily sipping their rum and cokes while waiting for the winning numbers. Casino keno is generally divided into two categories: the standard bet and the multiple bet.

‘Spots’ refers to how many numbers you would like to place your bet on. In Casino Keno, aside from marking the numbers, you have chosen, you have to fill in the ‘Spots’ box so that the house can check if this number corresponds to your markings before the Keno winning numbers are drawn. Casinos will usually allow you to bet on 1 to 10 numbers, and 15 and 20 numbers.

‘Games’ refers to the number of times with which you would like to use your Casino Keno ticket. If you would like to use the same numbers repeatedly for five consecutive games, no problem. You simply indicate it in your Keno ticket. It will save you the effort of having to write the numbers again and again.

The ‘Bet’ box refers to the, you guessed it, bet amount. This is your bet amount for every Keno round. Meanwhile, the ‘Total’ box simply refers to the total bet you’ve made for all the games you intend to play your Casino Keno ticket with. Formula: ‘Games’ x ‘Bet’ ‘Total’. So if you’re playing five games at a dollar each, the total is five dollars. Different Casinos will have different betting limits for Keno so it’s best to ask the staff regarding this if the house doesn’t already have signs announcing it.

The next step after completing your Casino Keno ticket is to proceed to the counter to place your bet (after kissing it for luck). The Keno operator will then give you a receipt with your numbers on it, and your bet. Beyond this point, you just sit back and cross your fingers.

With me so far?
Now we move on to the slightly more complicated way of playing Keno: Multiple Bets with Way Tickets. Don’t worry, the ticket has not changed, only the method by which you mark it. Multiple betting simply means that you get to play more than one combination per Keno ticket.

For instance, instead of playing the same number for all Keno games, you get to group certain numbers together. In a Way ticket, the ‘Spots’ box is filled out differently: they are filled with fraction-form numbers. For example, you have a Way ticket that you’re playing three Keno games with, with the following combinations: meaning you are playing this particular Keno ticket for three games using these three combinations. Meanwhile, if your card has one 4-number combination, one 7-number combination, and one 8-number combination, the number on the ‘Spots’ box should indicate this differently. This concludes our lesson on the basic principles of Keno. Just one more thing: Have fun!
