How to the Amazon Affiliate Program

When it comes to affiliate marketing, no brand stands out there more than the Amazon affiliate program. After all, they are the biggest online shopping platform in the world. It is commonly referred to as the Amazon Associate program.

What makes the Amazon affiliate program one of the best newbie-friendly affiliate programs in the world is that they are unrivaled as an e-commerce authority. In the U.S alone they account for nearly 40 percent of all online sales. It’s no surprise that Jeff Bezos is the richest dude in the world. Amazon is a well-known brand and that makes promoting their products relatively easy. It is basically a relationship in which a merchant pays you for links from your site to their site. This only happens when a sale has been made. The Amazon Affiliate program enables affiliate markers to monetize their websites, blogs, or social media business platforms by placing links to Amazon products on their site.

How do I get started with Amazon’s affiliate program?
If you already have an account with Amazon, then you don’t need to create a new account to set up your Amazon Affiliate account. Simply login to Amazon associates and follow the prompts.

If you don’t, creating an account with Amazon associates program is pretty straight forward. Create your login details and then enter your name, address and phone number. Next you will be asked to enter your website or mobile app URL. You can enter up to 50 websites and mobile app URLs combined. You might also be asked to enter your tax information at some stage.

My take is, even though you can use social media or YouTube to promote Amazon products, most people do it by blogging. To be more effective in promoting Amazon products you will essentially need to build a website. It gives you more authority and it’s easier to scale up since you can continuously build content which will attract visitors.

To be accepted as an affiliate, there are some questions that you will need to fill out, like categories of products you expect to promote, how you expect to market yourself and the number of monthly visitors to your platform. The last step is identity verification where you will need to fill your phone number then click the Call Me Now button. You will get a call from Amazon and will be provided with a 4-digit PIN. Enter that and you are in business.

How much can you expect with Amazon Affiliates?
That largely depends on how many visitors are visiting your site. The great thing about Amazon is you can still earn commissions on other a customer buys a pair of shoes from a link on your platform and decides to throw in some track pants you will earn a commission for those as well. This is however only if the transaction happens within 24 hours. There are many people who make a full-time income by promoting Amazon products.
